I do love December – the beginning of winter and Christmas mood. I also like to make decorations with kids. We make garlands out of colorful stripes and green needles. When my kids were young we decorated around a theme. One year it was kings and stars in blue and gold, to remind us that the baby in the manger was still the King of kings. Another year it was “stars and angels sing around Thee”. As we decorated the tree we’d talk about what the different ornaments and garlands represented. But I think the favorite of my children’s was the homemade nativity set they would get to set up and play with. They usually insisted on doing it together. My daughter now has it and her daughter will get to carry on the tradition.
