When I grow up I hope to be a one-project-til-finished kind of woman. As it is, I have a half-dozen projects in various stages of completion at any given time. I get stuck, I decide I don't yet know what I need to know, I'm undecided about finishing/display design, or I think something's missing but am not sure what. It's not efficient, and task-completion can be its own reward, but for improvisational artwork time to break, breath, revisit seems an inherent part of the process. THANK YOU for so generously sharing your work and thoughts, Lyric!

I am a "crafty" artist! I love it all! But I have finally settled in fiber quilting with a 3D surprise. I have been told to calm down my Bing but I just love the sparkle! I am just starting to design my own quilts. I haven't explored thermofax printing yet....but it's on my bucket list!

I prefer to work at several different pieces at the same time. This gives me 'brain time' to decide what I want to try next! The surprise factor is very important!!

For me, I only have a few of unfinished small quilts/wall hangings to finish up, but I have groups of fabric in bags (still in the planning stage) waiting for me to get all my ducks in line. The design/flow of the quilt is important, from cutting the first slice, to choosing the right batting, to finishing the binding. Then waiting till I have time off to actually 'play'. This 'job' thing gets in the way of my creativity. I spend more time at work thinking on how I want things to look; unfortunately they frown on me trying to draw while at work. :( My free time is very precious, and spending it creating/sewing is the best 'high' (I feel) one could have!

If I get started on a large project I tend to get absorbed in it to the almost complete exclusion of everything else. But, sometimes I just like to play with new techniques or work on a small piece for friends, as a break from the larger piece.
